Catherine Urquhart
Reporter
Catherine has worked in the news business for more than 25 years, and continues to find it both challenging and rewarding.
Her career training started at BCIT’s school of Journalism and continued with stints at several radio stations. She worked at CKIQ in Kelowna, CKO in Vancouver and CKWX, before joining the Global team in 1995.
Over the years, Catherine has covered a huge range of stories. Serious subjects have included criminal investigations, murders and missing children. Her feature pieces have highlighted artists and police officer training. In 2001, she received an award of excellence from the International Association of Fire Fighters for her coverage of a dramatic horse rescue.
In her spare time Catherine is a volunteer writer for the Tiny Light Foundation, a charity that photographs children who have had a life-altering diagnosis.
When Catherine isn’t chasing a story, she’s busy chasing her youngster.
